Glenn Pape, a CFP and CPA with 23 years experience,
has been named chairman of the Certified Financial Planner Board of
Standards' board of governors.
Pape, whose term started January 1, is a partner at
Pacific Northwest and Pacific Southwest Private Clients Services and
Employee Financial Services Groups, both part of Ernst & Young
LLP's Human Capital practice.
He previously chaired the CFP Board's board of appeals and audit committee.
A graduate of the University of Chicago, with a
bachelor's degree in the classics and an MBA, he is also earned a law
degree at DePaul College of Law.
Pape said in a prepared statement that this is a historic time for cerfified financial planners.
"We are facing a major financial storm," he said.
"Companies are rapidly shifting responsibility for medical and
retirement income planning to employees... Americans' only solution will
be to do better with what they have; without good financial planning,
it will not be enough."
