LPL Financial today announced that a former Morgan Stanley advisor with $200 million in advisory, brokerage and retirement plan assets has joined its broker-dealer, corporate registered investment advisor and custodial platforms, according to a news release.

Douglas Chin, based in Red Bank, N.J., aligned with Gladstone Wealth Partners, a large enterprise on LPL’s hybrid RIA platform.

Chin, a retired Navy captain, has been in the industry for more than three decades. He began his career with Merrill Lynch in 1983, where he spent the bulk of his career, according to BrokerCheck. He had a three-year stint starting in 1988 at Prudential Securities before returning to Merrill Lynch in 1991. He moved to Morgan Stanley in 2012.

Chin serves wealthy families and small businesses, providing each client with personalized service, taking a goal-oriented approach to investment management, the release said. He is joined by Carolyn Anderson, registered administrative assistant. “I focus on long-term planning to help clients pursue their financial objectives, while building strong relationships with each and every one of them in the process. I incorporate the ‘mom rule’ in my business philosophy, treating clients with the same respect I give my own mother,” Chin said in a statement.

Chin said every business decision he makes is in his clients’ best interests “and the independence I will get with LPL, coupled with the additional resources from the partnership with Gladstone, is just what I need to further act on that principle. I have the optimal freedom to manage and advance my practice, with no worries about having to hit quotas."
